Today's bento

Today I think I made my first bento worthy of putting up on here. It's pretty simple but a start.

Ingredients:

Tatziki (in a little pot)
1/2 an avocado
Prawns
Lettuce
1/2 a gluten free pita bread.

I think it looks quite pretty and nutritious!- Obviously not a patch on anything that I have seen bento wise but I'm sure I'll get there!

I'm aiming on getting some egg molds and some of those really pretty sticks soon which I hope will transform my lunch experience!

I have just come across the cutest totally amazing bento box blog! Where I found these AMAZING bentos!

These are just some of the incredible bento's that are listed on the site. I would totally recommend that you check it out!

The cat one is actually way too cute and I'm not sure if I would be able to eat it without shedding a tear!

Kyaraben

I’m sure most hardened bento lovers know that bento is short for Kyaraben but I didn’t. I’ve just come across it and finding that word alone has opened up my Internet search engine to more bento candy!

I’ve also stumbled across this site http://www.youchien.net/make/ which apparently aims to teach people who’s children have just gone off to infant school (Kinder garden?) how to make Kyaraben!

The page is in Japanese but can be translated by google and gives some really great instructions.

At the moment to me it still looks pretty complicated but I intend to have a go if I manage to get up early enough in the mornings!

Bento follow

Just came across this site: http://www.adventuresinbentomaking.com/ I'm going to have a really good look at it as it's amazing!

I took a screen grab to show just how awesome the site is! I would defiantly recommend checking it out!

Bento lust

I find myself googling bento boxes all the time. I just LOVE them!

So I thought I would start a blog writing about the cute things that I come across and my attempts at making bento boxes.

For me creating a bento for lunch really makes me happy. And when I look at my lunch box I have to smile.

I’m no bento pro and have only made a few but I do often have salad for lunch (I am unable to eat wheat or gluten), so find myself having to be inventive with my lunches otherwise I find eating it really dull.

I have read that it takes about 15/20 minutes in the morning to make a good bento. I’m going to experiment and see how long it takes me. I’m hoping not that long otherwise I will have to get out of bed way earlier in the morning!

I googled "bento" (see below image) and there are so many incredible pics that come up of peoples hard worked bento boxes! I've been looking through flicker also and there are many of the below images that come up there.
